Discussion on the topic of remembrance culture for MoRaH.

"March of Remembrance and Hope - Austria" or "MoRaH" is a non-profit association dedicated to the education of Austrian high school students. Humanity, tolerance and civil courage are the focus of a program lasting several months, through which they learn from contemporary history, commemorate the victims of the Shoah and learn about Jewish culture and traditions. Every year for the past 12 years, MoRaH has organized a 3-day memorial trip to Auschwitz; this year, more than one thousand young people will participate. In the run-up there are preparatory workshops for the accompanying teachers from all over Austria. Now, once again, I had the opportunity to speak to a large group of committed teachers from various Austrian provinces. After my lecture on the topic of remembrance culture, we found, starting from the Lueger Monument, numerous important points for discussion and also stimulating suggestions for necessary contextualizations of monuments in various places in our country. I am grateful for these opportunities for such an exciting exchange and would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all MoRaH staff members for their efforts!
